Biography
Seema Deo (27 March 1942 – 24 August 2023) was an Indian actress who worked in Hindi and Marathi cinema. Known for her graceful performances and portrayal of emotional family roles, she was one of the respected character actresses of Marathi and Bollywood films.
Born as Nalini Saraf in Girgaon, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Seema Deo began her acting career in Marathi films and later became a familiar face in Hindi cinema. She appeared in more than 80 films during her long career.
She gained widespread recognition for her role as Sumitra (Renu's mother) in the classic Hindi film Anand, starring Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan. Her performance as a caring and emotional mother remains one of her most memorable roles.
Some of her notable films include Kora Kagaz, Koshish, Dus Lakh, Khilona, and several Marathi films such as Molkari and Vasant Bahar.
Seema Deo was married to actor and filmmaker Ramesh Deo, and their son Ajinkya Deo is also a well-known actor. She worked alongside many leading artists of Indian cinema and was admired for her natural acting style.
Seema Deo passed away on 24 August 2023 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is remembered as a talented actress whose performances brought warmth and emotional depth to Marathi and Hindi films.
