Shashank Siddamsetty

Biography

Born on November 22, 1979, in Hyderabad, Telangana, Shashank Siddamsetty did his schooling at St Patrick High School and graduated with a commerce degree from the Andhra University, Vishakapatnam, through distance learning. Shashank was inspired by the films of the eminent actor K Chiranjeevi, which made him pursue acting.

After undergoing formal training in acting, Shashank made his debut as one of the lead actors in the National Award-winning Telugu film Aithe (2003). He garnered huge critical and commercial acclaim for his role in the film, which led him to secure another offer.

Then, Shashank played the second lead in the popular film Sye (2004), which was directed by the renowned filmmaker SS Rajamouli. The film’s success gave a boost to Shashank’s career and he also won the Nandi Award for Best Supporting Actor.

The 2005 Telugu film Anukokunda Oka Roju became Shashank’s first film as a lead actor. He garnered huge appreciation for his performance in the film. Although Shashank secured commendable successes at the beginning of his career, his next projects could not do well at the box office.

Eventually, Shashank turned into a character actor and he played supporting roles in films such as Victory (2008), Bangaru Babu (2009), Kavya’s Diary (2010), Kulu Manali (2012), Yevadu (2014), Nee Jathaga Nenundali (2014), Jyo Achuthananda (2016) and Duvvada Jagannadham (2017). Although Shashank acted in Kannada and Tamil films, he is predominantly known for his memorable characters in Telugu films.
