Shirley Jones was an American actress and singer best known for her musical performances and her role as Shirley Partridge in the television sitcom The Partridge Family.
She was born on March 31, 1934, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania. She began her career as a singer and made her Broadway debut in the musical South Pacific. She later became a successful film actress.
Her notable films include Oklahoma! (1955), Carousel (1956), Elmer Gantry (1960), The Music Man (1962), Bedtime Story (1964), and The Cheyenne Social Club (1970). She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Lulu Bains in Elmer Gantry.
Jones achieved major television success as Shirley Partridge in The Partridge Family (1970–1974), where she also showcased her singing abilities.
