Biography
Shiva Varma is an Indian director, writer, and editor from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He is known for working as a filmmaking duo with Saptaraj Chakraborty, with whom he has collaborated on television, web series, music videos, and advertising projects.
With more than a decade of experience in the entertainment industry, Varma has directed over 60 television commercials and worked with major production and digital companies, including Jio Studios, Zee Studios, Viacom, Hungama Digital, and ZEE5. His work spans advertising as well as scripted entertainment.
Varma and Chakraborty have directed several projects together, including The Presage (2017), Hawa Badle Hassu (2019), Laal Ishq (2018), Kashmakash: Kya Sahi Kya Galat (2020), and Bajao (2023).
Their collaboration on Bajao brought them into the Punjabi pop-music world, following three young filmmakers trying to establish themselves in the music-video industry. The series was presented by Jio Studios and featured Raftaar, Sahil Khattar, Mahira Sharma, and Monalisa.
Varma later co-directed the romantic comedy series Pyaar Testing (2025) with Chakraborty. The ZEE5 series stars Satyajeet Dubey and Plabita Borthakur and explores modern relationships and live-in compatibility through a humorous storyline.
