Shoji Ehara

Biography

Shoji Ehara is a Japanese cinematographer known for his work in film and television. He has contributed to several major Japanese productions, including The Floating Castle (2012), Attack on Titan Part 1 (2015), and Fukushima 50 (2020).

 

Ehara served as director of photography on Attack on Titan Part 1, bringing the manga-inspired world to the screen through large-scale action sequences and dramatic visual compositions. He also worked on Fukushima 50, the disaster drama based on the 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear accident, which was directed by Setsurō Wakamatsu.

 

His other cinematography credits include Masquerade Hotel (2019), Attack on Titan: End of the World (2015), Samurai Hustle (2014), and Samurai Detective Onihei: Lawless Love (2024).

Through his work across action films, historical productions, and disaster dramas, Ehara has established himself as an experienced cinematographer in Japanese cinema.
