Sidharth Bharathan

Biography

Sidharth Bharathan is an Indian actor, screenwriter, and film director who works predominantly in Malayalam cinema. Born on 26 May 1983 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, he is the son of acclaimed filmmaker Bharathan and veteran actress K. P. A. C. Lalitha.

Early Life and Career

Coming from a prominent film family, Sidharth developed an early connection with cinema. He made his acting debut with Nammal (2002), directed by Kamal. His performance brought him recognition and marked the beginning of his career as an actor.

He subsequently appeared in numerous Malayalam films, taking on supporting and character roles across different genres. His filmography includes Nammal, Chocolate, Spirit, Chandrettan Evideya, Kismath, Koode, Chathuram and Bramayugam, among others.

Career as a Director

Sidharth made his directorial debut with Nidra (2012). The film was a remake of the 1981 Malayalam film of the same name, directed originally by his father, Bharathan. Sidharth also contributed to the screenplay, demonstrating his interest in both filmmaking and storytelling.

He later directed Chathuram (2022), a Malayalam psychological erotic thriller featuring Swasika Vijay and Roshan Mathew. His directorial work reflects an interest in complex characters and unconventional narratives.

Bramayugam

One of Sidharth's most acclaimed recent performances came in Bramayugam (2024), directed by Rahul Sadasivan and starring Mammootty. His performance in the film further established his reputation as a versatile character actor.

For his performance in Bramayugam, Sidharth won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Supporting Actor at the 55th Kerala State Film Awards in 2026.

Family

Sidharth is the son of filmmaker Bharathan, one of the influential directors of Malayalam cinema, and actress K. P. A. C. Lalitha. His parents' achievements in Malayalam cinema have been an important part of his artistic background.
