Biography

Sindhu Menon is an Indian former actress and television presenter who worked predominantly in Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu cinema. Born on 17 June 1985 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, she grew up in a Malayali family and was trained in Bharatanatyam from a young age.

Early Life and Career

Sindhu developed an interest in performing arts during childhood. Her Bharatanatyam training eventually led to her entry into the film industry. She was introduced to Kannada filmmaker K. V. Jayaram after winning a Bharatanatyam competition and was cast as a child artist in Rashmi (1994).

She subsequently continued acting in Kannada cinema and took on leading roles while still very young. Her early work established her as a promising performer and opened opportunities in other South Indian film industries.

Film Career

Sindhu expanded her career into Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil films. Her early credits in these industries included Bhadrachalam, Uthaman and Samuthiram. She later appeared in films such as Kadal Pookkal (2002), Nandi (2002), Trinetram (2002) and Khushi (2003).

In Malayalam cinema, she gained recognition through films including Vasthavam (2006), Twenty:20 (2008), Detective (2007), Rajamanikyam (2005), Bharya Onnu Makkal Moonnu (2009) and Rahasya Police (2009). Her performance in Pulijanmam (2006) was particularly notable; the film went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film.

One of her best-known performances came in the Tamil supernatural thriller Eeram (2009), where she played Ramya Balakrishnan. The film was produced by director S. Shankar and became one of the notable films of her career.

Television Career

Alongside cinema, Sindhu worked in television as an anchor and actress. She hosted programmes and appeared in serials including Sriman Srimathi and Stree Hrudayam. Her television work helped her maintain a connection with audiences across South India.

Later Career and Personal Life

Sindhu Menon's active film career lasted from the mid-1990s into the early 2010s. She gradually moved away from acting after establishing herself in several South Indian film industries. She married Prabhu in 2010, and the couple has three children.
