Simon Ozolins
Biography
Simon Ozolins is an acclaimed Australian Director of Photography renowned for his versatile and visually striking work across film, television, documentaries, commercials, and music videos. An accredited member of the Australian Cinematographers Society (ACS), Ozolins has earned multiple awards for his cinematography, including National Golden Tripod Awards and Gold ACS Awards.
He has worked on high-profile television series such as Amazon Prime’s dark, feminist crime thriller Deadloch, Netflix’s Heartbreak High (Series 1 and 2), SBS’s The Unusual Suspects, and Stan’s The Other Guy (Series 2). His film credits include the sci-fi horror Crawlspace and the black comedy Audrey. He has also shot numerous award-winning short films, including 62 Sleeps, Dugong, and The Wake, which have screened at prestigious festivals such as Berlin, Sydney, Sundance, Tribeca, and Palm Springs.
Ozolins’ documentary work includes the AFI Award-winning Inside the Firestorm and SBS’s Immigration Nation. In the commercial and music video space, he has created visually stunning work for hundreds of brands, including the ARIA Award-winning video Walking on a Dream for Empire of the Sun.
In addition to his cinematography, Simon is a skilled stills photographer and serves as an official Ambassador for Leica Camera Australia. He actively contributes to the Leica Akademie and continues to influence the Australian and international film industry with his innovative and immersive visual storytelling.
