Biography

Smita Singh was born on December 16, 1980, in Lucknow, India. Her parents are Dr. Pratap Singh, an anesthetist, and Veena Singh, a homemaker. She has a younger sister named Smriti Singh. Smita attended Cathedral School in Lucknow, then I.T. College Lucknow, and completed her graduation from Lucknow University.   

 

 

From a young age, Smita was involved in plays and worked in television as a child actor in Lucknow. In 2001, she moved to Mumbai to pursue her acting career.

Smita Singh is an Indian television actress known for her roles in various shows. She started her career with a cameo role in "Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii" in 2001. She then appeared in "Kkusum" (2001-2002) as Sonali Deshmukh and "Kohi Apna Sa" (2001-2002) as Urvashi Gill.   

 

 

Her other television credits include "Remix" (2004-2006), "Instant Khichdi" (2004-2006) as Saadhvi Sandhya Devi, "Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki" (2006-2008) as Chameli, and "Bhagyavidhaata" (2009-2011), where she gained significant recognition for portraying the negative character Punpunwali.

 

 

Smita has also acted in "Baba Aiso Varr Dhoondo" (2010), "Looteri Dulhan" (2011), "Hitler Didi" (2011-2013) as Sunaina Sharma/Guru Maa, "Rishton Ka Mela" (2015), "Shastri Sisters" (2015), "Dr. Bhanumati On Duty" (2016), "Thapki Pyaar Ki" (2016-2017) as Kosi Devi/Kalavti Devi, "Karn Sangini" (2018-2019) as Gauri, "Tera Kya Hoga Alia" (2019-2020) as Durga Parihaar, "Sab Satrangi" (2022) as Mandy, and "Main Hoon Aparajita" (2023) as Kalpana Singh.

 

 

She has also appeared in films like "My Friend Ganesha 4" (2013), "P Se Pyaar F Se Faraar" (2019), and "Cash" (2021). Additionally, she participated in reality shows such as "Comedy Circus" and "Kitchen Champion."   

 

 

Smita Singh was nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy Role at the Indian Telly Awards for her role in "Hitler Didi."
