Snehil Dixit Mehra

Biography

Snehil Dixit Mehra is an Indian director, writer and creative professional with more than 18 years of experience in film and television. Over the course of her career, she has worked across journalism, television, digital entertainment and scripted content, developing a reputation for combining creative storytelling with a contemporary perspective.

Early Career

Snehil began her professional journey in news, gaining early experience in media and content creation. She later moved into the entertainment industry, taking on creative leadership positions with major broadcasting organizations.

Her experience across television gave her an understanding of programming, storytelling and audience engagement. She subsequently moved into the digital entertainment space and served as Head of Content at ALT Balaji, where she was involved in developing and overseeing original content.

Directorial Debut

Snehil made her directorial debut working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on the period drama series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (2024). The Netflix series was created and directed by Bhansali and featured an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal.

Her involvement in the production marked an important transition from content leadership and writing into directing for a major large-scale screen project.

BC Aunty

Alongside her professional work in film and television, Snehil gained widespread recognition through her satirical digital persona “BC Aunty.”

The character became a popular internet and pop-culture phenomenon, using humor, sarcasm and social commentary to address contemporary issues and everyday experiences. Through BC Aunty, Snehil demonstrated her ability to connect with audiences through a distinctive comic voice while commenting on social and cultural subjects.

The popularity of the character helped establish her as a recognizable digital creator in addition to her work as a filmmaker and content professional.

Directorial Career

Following her work on Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, Snehil has continued developing projects as a director and writer. Her upcoming ventures are expected to further establish her filmmaking identity and allow her to explore bold and distinctive narratives.
