Biography

Sofia Vassilieva is an American actress best known for her roles in film and television, particularly for her performance as Kate Fitzgerald in My Sister’s Keeper (2009). She was born on October 22, 1992, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

 

 

Career

Vassilieva began acting as a child and appeared in television productions before gaining wider recognition. She had an early role in the television series Medium, where she played Ariel Dubois, the daughter of Patricia Arquette’s character. Her performance on the series earned her several young-actor award nominations.

 

Her breakthrough film role came with My Sister's Keeper, directed by Nick Cassavetes. She portrayed Kate Fitzgerald, a teenager suffering from leukemia whose family relies on her younger sister Anna for medical donations. Vassilieva's performance required her to portray the physical and emotional effects of serious illness and received positive attention.

 

She later appeared in projects including Innocent (2011), Call Me Crazy: A Five Film (2013), and television series such as Law & Order: SVU and Looking for Alaska.

 

 

Education
