Sonam Khan, born Bakhtavar Khan on September 2, 1972, in Mumbai, India, is a former Indian actress renowned for her work in Hindi and Telugu cinema. She is the granddaughter of the esteemed actor Murad and the niece of actor Raza Murad. Sonam adopted her screen name upon the suggestion of filmmaker Yash Chopra.

Sonam made her acting debut in 1987 with the Telugu film "Samrat." She gained prominence in Bollywood with her role in Yash Chopra's "Vijay" (1988).
