Biography
Sorcha Groundsell is a Scottish actress, born on 15 February 1998 in Bristol, England. She grew up on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland and is a fluent Scottish Gaelic speaker. She studied at Glasgow Gaelic School and took drama classes at the Citizens Theatre and Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Groundsell made her feature-film debut in Iona (2015) and later appeared in the television series In Plain Sight and Clique. Her breakthrough came with Netflix's supernatural science-fiction series The Innocents (2018), in which she played June McDaniel, a teenager who discovers she has shapeshifting abilities.
Her other notable credits include Far from the Apple Tree (2019), Crime (2021), Shetland (2022), His Dark Materials (2022), The Long Shadow (2023), and the Scottish Gaelic crime series An t-Eilean (2025), where she played PC Kat Crichton.
Groundsell is particularly recognized for her performances in supernatural drama, crime, and television thrillers, with The Innocents remaining her most internationally recognized role.
