Biography

Soumik Sen is a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, recognized for his multifaceted talents as a director, screenwriter, and music composer. Born on March 2, 1975, in Kolkata, India, Sen has made significant contributions to both Hindi and Bengali cinema.   

Early Career and Screenwriting:

Sen embarked on his career as a screenwriter, penning scripts for several notable films. His work includes:   

Anthony Kaun Hai? (2006)   

Ru Ba Ru (2008)   

Meerabai Not Out (2008)   

Hum Tum Aur Ghost (2010)   

These films showcased Sen's ability to craft engaging narratives and develop compelling characters.

Directorial Debut and Beyond:

In 2014, Sen made his directorial debut with the crime film Gulaab Gang. The film, starring Madhuri Dixit-Nene, received critical acclaim for its unique storyline and Sen's direction.   

Subsequently, Sen directed the 2019 film Why Cheat India, which explored the prevalent issue of education fraud in India. The film garnered mixed reviews but highlighted Sen's willingness to tackle socially relevant topics.
