S. P. Muthuraman is one of the most respected and influential directors in the history of Tamil cinema. S. P. Muthuraman was born on 19 March 1937 in Sivagangai district, Tamil Nadu. He developed an interest in films at a young age and entered the film industry through sheer determination and passion. He began his career by assisting senior filmmakers, where he learned the technical and creative aspects of cinema.

 

 

Career
Muthuraman made his directorial debut in 1967 and went on to direct more than 70 films. He is especially famous for his long and successful association with actor Rajinikanth, directing him in over 20 films. Many of these films became major box-office hits and helped establish Rajinikanth as a superstar.

 

 

His films often blended family drama, sentiment, action, and social themes, making them appealing to a wide audience. Muthuraman was also known for his efficient working style, timely completion of films, and strong command of narration.
