Biography

S.S. Wilson is an American screenwriter, director, producer, and filmmaker best known for his work in science fiction, comedy, and adventure films. He is particularly recognized for co-writing Tremors (1990) with Brent Maddock and serving as a writer and producer on several of its sequels. He also worked on films such as Short Circuit (1986), Wild Wild West (1999), and Dunston Checks In (1996).

Career

Wilson began his career writing and producing projects with his longtime creative collaborator Brent Maddock. The pair became known for developing stories that combined humor with science-fiction and fantasy elements. Their early success came with Short Circuit, a science-fiction comedy about a military robot that unexpectedly develops human-like intelligence.

Wilson and Maddock achieved their biggest success with Tremors (1990), directed by Ron Underwood. The film followed residents of a remote Nevada town as they battled enormous subterranean creatures. Its mixture of horror, comedy, adventure, and memorable characters earned it a strong cult following.

Following the success of Tremors, Wilson continued working on the franchise. He co-wrote Tremors 2: Aftershocks (1996), Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (2001), and Tremors 4: The Legend Begins (2004), while also contributing as a producer to several related projects.

Beyond the Tremors series, Wilson worked on a variety of film and television projects. His credits include screenwriting and producing work on Dunston Checks In, Wild Wild West, and other genre and family-oriented productions.
