Biography
Sue Nyathi is a celebrated Zimbabwean author, screenwriter, and former investment analyst known for her compelling stories that explore themes of family, love, migration, culture, and social issues in contemporary Africa. Born as Sukoluhle Nyathi on June 23, 1978, in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, she developed a passion for writing from a young age and began crafting stories and poetry during her school years.
Although she pursued a career in finance, earning a Master's degree in Finance and Investment from the National University of Science and Technology in Zimbabwe, Nyathi never abandoned her love for storytelling. In 2008, she relocated to Johannesburg, South Africa, where she continued writing and eventually established herself as a published author.
Nyathi's literary career gained momentum with the release of her debut novel, The Polygamist (2012), a bestseller that examines the complexities of modern relationships and polygamy. She followed this success with acclaimed novels including The Gold Diggers (2018), A Family Affair (2020), and An Angel's Demise (2022). Her works have been praised for their authentic portrayal of African experiences and strong female characters.
In addition to writing novels, Nyathi has worked as a screenwriter for television productions, further showcasing her storytelling talent across different media. Her contributions to African literature have earned her recognition both within Zimbabwe and internationally, making her one of the most influential contemporary voices in African fiction.
