Sujith Sarang

Biography

Sujith Sarang (born 22 June 1985) is an Indian cinematographer who has worked primarily in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema. Born in Thrissur, Kerala, he grew up in a Malayali family in Coimbatore and studied physics before completing a diploma in film technology at the M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute in Chennai. He was also a Tamil Nadu State Award-winning student cinematographer in 2009.

Sarang began his filmmaking career through short films, including 5 Rooba, Pannaiyarum Padminiyum, and Vyugam. He moved into feature films with the Telugu film Alias Janaki (2013). His cinematography later gained wider recognition through films such as Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (2016), Taxiwaala (2018), and Dear Comrade (2019).

Among his notable cinematography credits are Karthick Naren's Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru, the Malayalam film IDI: Inspector Dawood Ibrahim, the Telugu supernatural thriller Taxiwaala, and the acclaimed romantic drama Dear Comrade. He also worked on Navarasa (2021), Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu (2022), Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee (2022), Oke Oka Jeevitham/ Kanam (2022), Bloody Beggar (2024), and Yamakaathaghi (2025).

Sarang's later credits include Anomie: The Equation of Death (2026), while Naragasooran and Aakasamlo Oka Tara are listed among his projects. He is particularly noted for his collaborations with filmmaker Karthick Naren and for working across multiple South Indian film industries.

His brother Sreejith Sarang is a film editor, making filmmaking a shared professional field within the family. Through his work across Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam cinema, Sujith Sarang has established himself as a versatile cinematographer with a diverse visual portfolio.
