Sujoy Ghosh
Biography
Sujoy Ghosh is an Indian director, screenwriter, actor, and producer best known for his movie Kahaani (2012) starring Vidya Balan. Sujoy, who made his directorial debut in 2003 with the movie Jhankar Beats, has also produced movies such as Aladin (2009) and Te3n (2016).
In 2016, he released the short film Ahalya, starring Radhika Apte, which received rave reviews from the audience.
In 2003, Sujoy directed his maiden film, Jhankar Beats - a tribute to the legendary Indian music composer R. D. Burman. The film which stars Sanjay Suri, Juhi Chawla, Rahul Bose, Rinke Khanna, Shayan Munshi, and Riya Sen received moderate success at the box office.
His next two films Home Delivery (2005) and Aladin (2009) bombed at the box office.
Sujoy has written most of the movies that he has directed and in 2014 he wrote the movie Bang Bang directed by Siddharth Anand.
In 2009, Sujoy produced the movie Aladin, which he had also directed. He next produced two of the movies he directed, Kahaani and Ahalya. His 2016 releases as a producer include Te3n and Kahaani 2.
In 2012, Sujoy made a cameo in the Bengali movie Nobel Chor. It was in 2012 that he appeared in his first lead role in the movie Satyanweshi directed by Rituparno Ghosh. Sujoy essayed the popular character of detective Byomkesh Bakshi.
