Suresh Krissna is a renowned Indian film director, screenwriter, and author, best known for his impactful work across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi cinema. Over the course of his illustrious career, he has directed more than 40 films, many of which have achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success.

 

 

Born and raised in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Suresh Krissna began his film career as an assistant director under K. Balachander, one of Indian cinema’s most respected filmmakers. This mentorship shaped his storytelling sensibilities and cinematic vision. He made his directorial debut with the Hindi film Sathya (1988), starring Kamal Haasan, which was a remake of the Tamil hit Saathya. The film’s success marked the beginning of his reputation as a skilled director capable of blending action, emotion, and social themes seamlessly.

 

 

Krissna gained massive recognition with Annamalai (1992), starring Rajinikanth, which became one of the biggest blockbusters of Tamil cinema. He went on to direct several more Rajinikanth-starrers, including Veera (1994) and the cult classic Baashha (1995), which remains one of the most iconic films in Indian cinema history. His collaboration with Rajinikanth is often credited for elevating the star’s mass appeal to new heights.
