Suresh Raina

Biography

Suresh Raina was born on November 27, 1986, in Muradnagar, Uttar Pradesh, India. He showed a strong passion for cricket from a young age and moved to Lucknow in his teenage years to join the Guru Gobind Singh Sports College, where he honed his skills under professional guidance. His early dedication and disciplined approach helped him rise quickly through the junior cricket ranks.

 

 

Domestic Career

Raina made his debut for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket in 2002–03. His consistent performances in the Ranji Trophy and other domestic tournaments caught the attention of national selectors. Known for his aggressive batting style and sharp fielding, Raina became one of the most dependable players in India’s domestic circuit.

 

 

International Career

Suresh Raina made his One Day International (ODI) debut for India in 2005 against Sri Lanka. He later went on to represent India in all three formats — Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Raina became the first Indian player to score a century in all three formats of international cricket.

He was part of India’s 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup–winning squad, playing key innings in crucial matches. His calm temperament under pressure and explosive batting in the middle order made him a vital part of India’s limited-overs setup for many years.

 

 

In T20 cricket, Raina played a significant role in India’s victory in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20. His ability to accelerate the scoring rate and his agility on the field made him one of the most reliable T20 players of his generation.

Suresh Raina became a household name through his association with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League. Known as “Mr. IPL,” Raina was one of the most consistent performers in the league’s history, often leading the team with both bat and leadership qualities. He was the first player to score 5,000 runs in the IPL and played a major role in CSK’s multiple title victories.
