Tamal Sen
Biography
Tamal, an Indian screenwriter and director, is an alumnus of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. He worked extensively in the advertising industry up until the end of 2016. Tamal ventured into professional screenwriting with his first feature screenplay, The Gift, which was selected in the 2016-17 NFDC Screenwriters Lab.
The script was then taken to the NFDC Co-Production Market, where it also received 25% film funding. Tamal was the solo writer on Parambrata Chatterjee's Road Show Films' Kaali, which is streaming on Zee5.
The show became the most-watched regional show on Zee5 at that time and has been dubbed into multiple languages since. As a director, he made the heartwarming short film, Dui Shalik, which was shot in two days on a tight budget.
Most recently, Tamal co-wrote the Sakshi Tanwar-starrer and award-winning Netflix Original Mai, which was produced by Clean Slate Films and concluded work on Paatal Lok Season 2 for Amazon Prime Video.
In 2023, he wrapped a shoot as an AD with Prosit Roy on the upcoming feature Chakda 'Xpress starring Anushka Sharma, which is the biopic of cricket star Jhulan Goswami. Tamal is currently developing an original drama series.
