Biography
Tanu Roy is an Indian actress and model, originally from Kolkata, known for her work in Telugu cinema as well as Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and Kannada films. She gained popularity for her item numbers in movies like Mass and Hero and her performance in the Malayalam film Ee Adutha Kalathu.
Career
A commerce graduate from Kolkata, Tanu made her acting debut in 2001 with Puri Jagannadh's Itlu Sravani Subramanyam. She later appeared in films like Anandam, Manasantha Nuvve, Avunu Nijame, and Kodi Ramakrishna's Keelu Gurram. She became known for her roles in low-budget B movies and for performing item numbers in films such as Satyam, Mass, No, Viyyalavari Kayyalu, and Pellikani Prasad.
Tanu has also worked in Bengali films like Basho Na, where she portrayed a young widow, and Moner Majho Tumhi, a remake of Manasantha Nuvve. In Kannada cinema, she appeared in Love Story (a remake of Maro Charitra) and Preethi Maadabaaradu (which was shelved). Her Tamil projects include Indru and Girivalam, a remake of the Hindi film Humraaz.
In Malayalam, she earned critical acclaim for her role as Madhuri in Ee Adutha Kalathu (2012), where she played the mother of a 10-year-old boy. In an Odia film, she portrayed a social activist working for the welfare of tribal people.
Tanu's upcoming projects include Ala Jarigindi Oka Roju, the Telugu remake of the British film Big Nothing, and a cameo in Hashim Marrikar's Preview. She has also participated in Telugu TV shows like Naacho Rrey and Humma Humma.
