Biography

Teddy Sears, born Edward M. Sears on 6 April 1977 in Washington, D.C., USA, is an American actor known for his work in television and film. He was raised in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in business management before pursuing acting and studying at the William Esper Studio in New York.

 

Sears began his acting career with a role on the daytime series One Life to Live and subsequently appeared in shows including Law & Order, Ugly Betty, Mad Men, CSI: Miami, and The Defenders. His breakthrough television role came as Richard Patrick Woolsley IV in TNT's legal drama Raising the Bar (2008–2009).

 

He later gained recognition for playing Dr. Austin Langham in Showtime's Masters of Sex (2013–2018) and Patrick in American Horror Story. His film credits include A Single Man (2009), The Client List (2010), Curve (2015), and Nine Lives (2016).

 

One of his best-known roles came in The Flash (2015–2023), where he portrayed Jay Garrick, the Flash of Earth-2, before the character's identity was revealed as Hunter Zolomon/Zoom. He also starred as Keith Mullins, the ambitious head of the Counter Terrorist Unit, in 24: Legacy (2017), alongside Corey Hawkins and Anna Diop.

 

More recently, Sears has appeared in Chicago Fire, The Politician, American Horror Story, Impeachment: American Crime Story, Brilliant Minds, and Netflix's The Night Agent. His varied career has established him as a versatile character actor, particularly in television dramas and thrillers.
