Biography
Teja (born Jasti Dharma Teja on 22 February 1966) is an Indian filmmaker who began his career as a cinematographer before becoming a director and screenwriter, working mainly in Telugu cinema. He made a successful directorial debut with films like Chitram, Nuvvu Nenu, and Jayam. Over the years, he has received multiple Nandi Awards and won the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Telugu for Nuvvu Nenu.
Teja began his cinematography career with Ram Gopal Varma’s 1992 bilingual film Raat, which earned him the Nandi Award for Best Cinematography. As a cinematographer, he worked on notable films such as Baazi, Ghulam, Sangharsh, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain, Krodh, Krishna, Shastra, Rakshak, Money, Tere Mere Sapne, and Vishwavidhaata. He was also part of the crew for films like Kshana Kshanam, Rangeela, Drohi, Antham, Gaayam, and Govinda Govinda.
