Terry O Quinn

Biography

Terry O'Quinn, born Terrance Quinn on July 15, 1952, in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, is a highly respected American actor with a long and distinguished career in film and television.   

O'Quinn's acting journey began in theater. He attended Central Michigan University and the University of Iowa, where he honed his craft. In the late 1970s, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film and television.   

He began landing supporting roles in the early 1980s, appearing in films like "Heaven's Gate" and "The Stepfather," where his chilling portrayal earned him critical acclaim and an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male. He also developed a recurring professional relationship with director Chris Carter, appearing in "The X-Files" and later in "Millennium."   

O'Quinn's career reached a new level of recognition with his iconic role as John Locke in the ABC mystery drama series "Lost" (2004-2010). His complex and enigmatic portrayal of the character earned him widespread praise, a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2007, and multiple other award nominations.   

Following "Lost," O'Quinn continued to be a prominent figure on television, taking on leading roles in series such as "Falling Skies," "666 Park Avenue," "Gang Related," "Secrets and Lies," and "Emergence." He has consistently delivered compelling performances, showcasing his versatility across various genres.

More recently, O'Quinn appeared in "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" in 2024, further adding to his impressive list of television credits. With his intense screen presence and ability to embody complex characters, Terry O'Quinn remains a significant and admired actor in the entertainment industry.
