Born in Salem, Tamil Nadu, Saravanan hails from a humble background. His father was a police inspector, and his mother was a staff nurse. He pursued his education at the Government Arts College in Salem, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Tamil Literature.
Saravanan's foray into the film industry began with his acting debut in the critically acclaimed film "Nandha" (2001), directed by Bala. His portrayal of a negative character in the film garnered widespread recognition and established him as a promising actor.
