Thulasi Nair
Biography
Thulasi Nair is an Indian former actress who worked primarily in Tamil cinema. Born on 25 October 1997 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, she comes from a prominent film family. She is the daughter of veteran actress Radha and businessman Rajashekharan Nair. Her elder sister, Karthika Nair, is also an actress, while veteran actress Ambika is her maternal aunt.
Early Life and Family
Thulasi grew up in Mumbai and was exposed to the film industry through her family, although she initially focused on her education. She studied at Podar International School in Mumbai. She later pursued higher education in business and management, completing undergraduate studies in Business Administration and subsequently earning a master's degree in International Management from King's College London, graduating in 2020.
Entry into Films
Thulasi entered the film industry at a young age. At around 14, she auditioned for director Mani Ratnam's Tamil film Kadal. She was eventually selected to play Beatrice, opposite debutant Gautham Karthik. The film was released in 2013 and marked her acting debut.
Her performance in Kadal brought her early recognition and earned her nominations for Best Debut Actress at awards including the Vijay Awards and SIIMA.
Career
After Kadal, Thulasi appeared in the action-thriller Yaan (2014), directed by cinematographer-turned-director Ravi K. Chandran. She starred opposite Jiiva, playing the role of Sreela.
Although her film career was brief, her association with two major productions—Kadal and Yaan—gave her recognition in Tamil cinema. Her acting career ultimately consisted of only a small number of credited film appearances, after which she concentrated on her education and other pursuits.
