Tilman Valentin "Til" Schweiger (born December 19, 1963, in Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany) is a highly successful German actor, director, producer, and writer. He is widely regarded as Germany's most commercially successful filmmaker, having drawn more people to cinemas than any other German filmmaker since the late 1960s.
🌟 Career Breakthrough and International Roles
After briefly studying German and Medicine, Schweiger attended drama school in Cologne. His early career included roles in German television, such as the series Lindenstrasse, and his film debut in Manta, Manta (1991). His breakthrough came with the 1994 film Maybe... Maybe Not (Der bewegte Mann).
Schweiger quickly gained international notice, beginning with the acclaimed crime comedy Knockin' on Heaven's Door (1997), which he also co-wrote and produced. He went on to appear in a range of English-language films, including The Replacement Killers (1998), SLC Punk! (1998), Driven (2001), and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life (2003). His most recognizable international role is as Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds (2009). He also appeared in This Means War (2012) and Atomic Blonde (2017).
