Timo Vuorensola is a Finnish filmmaker, actor, musician, and producer known for his work in science fiction, horror, and action cinema. He was born on November 19, 1979, in Helsinki, Finland.

Early Life and Career

Vuorensola developed an interest in filmmaking and visual effects at a young age. He became particularly interested in science fiction and genre cinema, eventually establishing himself as an independent filmmaker.

His early breakthrough came with Star Wreck: In the Pirkinning (2005), a Finnish science-fiction comedy that he directed, co-wrote, and edited. The film was produced largely through volunteer contributions and became an international cult success.

Iron Sky

Vuorensola gained wider international recognition as the director of Iron Sky (2012), a science-fiction black comedy about Nazis who have established a secret base on the dark side of the Moon and return to Earth decades later.

The film attracted international attention for its unusual premise, visual effects, and crowdfunding-based production model. Vuorensola subsequently directed Iron Sky: The Coming Race (2019), continuing the story with an even larger science-fiction adventure.
