Tom Rolf was a renowned Swedish-American film editor celebrated for his precise, dynamic editing style and his contributions to some of the most acclaimed films of the late 20th century. Born on December 31, 1931, in Stockholm, Sweden, Rolf came from a family involved in the arts—his father was the Swedish director Ernst Rolf. Tom Rolf later moved to the United States, where he established a prolific career in Hollywood. He passed away on July 14, 2014, leaving behind a legacy of influential work in film editing.

 

 

Rolf began his career in the film industry in the 1950s and quickly developed a reputation for his technical skill and storytelling intuition. He worked on a wide range of genres, from action and drama to thrillers and westerns. Among his most notable credits are The Right Stuff (1983), for which he won an Academy Award for Best Film Editing, Taxi Driver (1976), and WarGames (1983).
