Thomas Edward Sizemore Jr. (November 29, 1961 – March 3, 2023) was an American actor recognized for his intense, tough-guy roles, often portraying military personnel, police detectives, or criminals.

 

 

👶 Early Life and Education

Sizemore was born in Detroit. His father was a lawyer and philosophy professor, and his mother was on the city of Detroit ombudsman staff. He grew up as a Catholic. He earned a bachelor's degree in Theater from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1983.

 

 

🌟 Film Career and Major Roles

Sizemore began his career with supporting roles in the late 1980s and early 1990s in films such as Born on the Fourth of July (1989), Lock Up (1989), and Blue Steel (1990). His distinctive presence led to more prominent parts, establishing him as a compelling character actor throughout the 1990s and 2000s.

 

His most commercially successful roles were in major Hollywood productions, where he often played key supporting characters:

 

Heat (1995): He portrayed the criminal Michael Cheritto alongside an ensemble cast.

Saving Private Ryan (1998): This became his most commercially successful film. He played Sergeant First Class Mike Horvath, the right-hand man to Tom Hanks's character.

Black Hawk Down (2001): He continued his notable military roles, appearing as L.T.C. Danny McKnight.

 

Pearl Harbor (2001): He starred as Sgt. Earl Sistern in this action film.

He also had prominent roles in films like True Romance (1993), Natural Born Killers (1994), Strange Days (1995), and Bringing Out the Dead (1999). Sizemore also received a Golden Globe nomination for his lead role in the television film Witness Protection (1999). In the early 2000s, he had a voice role as Sonny Forelli in the video game Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.
