Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Horn grew up in a musical family and developed a passion for music at an early age. He began his career as a bass player and singer in local bands before moving into studio work. Rise to Fame
Trevor Horn first gained major recognition in the late 1970s as part of the pop duo The Buggles, alongside Geoff Downes. Their hit single “Video Killed the Radio Star” (1979) became an international success and was famously the first music video ever played on MTV in 1981.
After The Buggles, Horn briefly joined the progressive rock band Yes as lead vocalist and bassist, later producing their hit album 90125 (1983), which featured the chart-topping single “Owner of a Lonely Heart.”
Production Career
As a producer, Horn became known for his sophisticated, layered sound and innovative use of technology. In the 1980s and 1990s, he worked with numerous artists, including ABC (The Lexicon of Love), Frankie Goes to Hollywood (Welcome to the Pleasuredome), Seal, Pet Shop Boys, and Tina Turner.
