Tuba Büyüküstün
Biography
Tuba Büyüküstün was born on 5 July 1982 in Istanbul, Turkey. Her birth name is Hatice Tuba Büyüküstün. She studied costume design and stage decoration at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts and graduated in 2004. While at university, she appeared in commercials before beginning her professional acting career.
She gained recognition with the television series Çemberimde Gül Oya (2004), followed by Ihlamurlar Altında (2005) and Asi (2007–2009), which helped establish her as one of Turkey’s leading television actresses. Her film credits include My Father and My Son (2005), Sınav (2006), Ask Your Heart (2010), Memories of the Wind (2015), and Istanbul Red (2017).
Büyüküstün achieved international recognition for 20 Minutes (2013), earning a Best Actress nomination at the International Emmy Awards. She later starred in Black Money Love (2014–2015) and Brave and Beautiful (2016–2017).
Her later work includes the historical series Rise of Empires: Ottoman (2020–2022), in which she portrayed Mara Branković, and the Netflix drama Another Self (2022–2026), where she plays Ada. She has also appeared in Like There's No Tomorrow (2024) and Dehşet Bey (2025).
Beyond acting, Büyüküstün has served as a UNICEF National Goodwill Ambassador and has been involved in advocacy for children's rights.
