Biography
Udaykrishna is an Indian screenwriter and producer who works predominantly in Malayalam cinema. He is particularly known for commercial entertainers, comedy films, and action-oriented stories. He was initially associated with screenwriter Sibi K. Thomas, with whom he created several successful Malayalam films.
Early Career
Udaykrishna entered the Malayalam film industry through assistant-director and assistant-screenwriter roles. He gradually moved into independent screenwriting and began gaining recognition for his work in comedy and family entertainers.
His early successful collaborations with Sibi K. Thomas included Mattupetti Machan (1998), Udayapuram Sulthan (1999) and Dhosth (2001). They later wrote popular films such as C.I.D. Moosa (2003), Runway (2004), Vettam (2004), Kochi Rajavu (2005) and Thuruppu Gulan (2006).
Solo Career
After his long association with Sibi K. Thomas, Udaykrishna began working independently as a screenwriter. His first independent screenplay was Pulimurugan (2016), directed by Vysakh and starring Mohanlal. The film became a landmark commercial success and was reported as the first Malayalam film to cross the ₹150-crore mark at the box office.
He subsequently wrote films including Masterpiece (2017), Madura Raja (2019), Aaraattu (2022), Monster (2022) and Christopher (2023). He has also received producer credits on projects such as Avatharam (2014) and Ira (2018).
