Biography
Vaishnavi Mahant, also known as Vaishnavi MacDonald, is an Indian film and television actress, born on September 9, 1974, in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She began her acting career as a child artist in the 1988 horror film Veerana, in which she played young Jasmin.
She later transitioned to adult roles and appeared in Hindi films including Laadla (1994), Bambai Ka Babu (1996), Barsaat Ki Raat (1998), and Dosti Ke Side Effects (2019). Her first major leading role came with Bambai Ka Babu, opposite Saif Ali Khan.
Mahant achieved widespread recognition on television for portraying journalist Geeta Vishwas in the popular superhero series Shaktimaan (1997–2005), starring alongside Mukesh Khanna. The role became her best-known television performance.
She subsequently appeared in several television series, including Miley Jab Hum Tum, Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, Tashan-E-Ishq, Mitegi Laxman Rekha, Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai, Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye, Aye Mere Humsafar, and Meet. Her later screen credits include Dhaaak (2024) and Rimjhim: Choti Umar Bada Safar (2025).
Vaishnavi Mahant is married to Leslie MacDonald and has a daughter named Margaret MacDonald. She has remained active in Indian television and film for several decades.
