Biography
Varghese Moolan, also known as Dr. Varghese Sebastian, is an Indian entrepreneur, philanthropist and film producer from Kerala. He is the founder and chairman of the Moolans Group and has been involved in business ventures spanning food products, exports, retail, infrastructure and other sectors. Alongside his business career, he developed an interest in cinema and became associated with Malayalam and Tamil film production.
Early Life and Education
Varghese Moolan was born on February 18, 1953, in Angamaly, Kerala. He pursued higher education in marketing and later earned a doctorate in research on modern marketing, with a particular emphasis on the food industry.
His professional career began in business, where he built the Moolans Group into a diversified enterprise. His experience in international trade and management later informed his work in film production.

Moolan is primarily known as an entrepreneur and businessman. Through the Moolans Group, he has been associated with areas including food and spice exports, supermarkets, hospitality, textiles, homeware and other commercial activities.

Career in Cinema
Moolan entered film production with Odu Raja Odu, a Tamil comedy-thriller released in 2018. He served as a co-producer on the film, which was directed by Nishanth Ravindaran and Jathin Sanker Raj.
His most prominent film-production credit came with Rocketry: The Nambi Effect (2022). He produced the biographical drama alongside R. Madhavan, Sarita Madhavan and Vijay V. Moolan. The film tells the story of ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan and his struggles following a false espionage accusation.
Rocketry became an important achievement in Moolan's film career. The film received the National Film Award for Best Feature Film, giving its producers one of India's highest recognitions in cinema.
G.D.N.
Moolan subsequently became involved in G.D.N., a biographical drama about Indian inventor and industrialist G. D. Naidu. He produced the film with Vijay Moolan, R. Madhavan and Sarita Madhavan. Krishnakumar Ramakumar directed the project, while Madhavan and Ramakumar were credited with the screenplay and writing.
The film focuses on important episodes from Naidu's life, particularly his determination to develop innovative technologies despite opposition from powerful authorities. It was produced under Varghese Moolan Pictures in collaboration with Madhavan's production banner.
