Varinder Singh Ghuman
Biography
Varinder Singh Ghuman (1983 or 1984 – 9 October 2025) was an Indian bodybuilder and actor. He rose to national fame after winning the Mr. India title in 2009 and finishing second in Mr. Asia the same year. Originally from Gurdaspur, Punjab, Ghuman was widely known as the world’s first professional vegetarian bodybuilder.
In his bodybuilding career, he made history by becoming the first Indian to earn an IFBB Pro Card. His success led to international recognition, and he was chosen by Arnold Schwarzenegger as a brand ambassador to promote health and fitness products across Asia.
Alongside bodybuilding, Ghuman pursued acting. He starred as the lead in the Punjabi film Kabaddi Once Again (2012), made his Hindi film debut in Roar: Tigers of the Sundarbans (2014), appeared in Marjaavaan (2019), and had his final on-screen role in Tiger 3.
Ghuman passed away on 9 October 2025. While undergoing treatment at Fortis Hospital in Amritsar, he suffered a heart attack during a medical procedure and could not be revived.
