Venugopal Madathil
Biography
Venugopal Madathil (born 5 June 1966) is an Indian cinematographer who has worked extensively in Malayalam cinema. Over his career, he has been associated with more than 75 films and has collaborated with prominent filmmakers including Sibi Malayil, A. K. Lohithadas, Jayaraj, Kamal, V. M. Vinu and Rajasenan.
Early Life
Venugopal is the son of Dr. M. N. Panicker. Although he studied engineering, his passion was photography and cinematography. During his college years, he spent time at his uncle's photography studio, where his interest in visual arts developed.
After completing his studies, he entered the film industry and worked as an assistant to cinematographer Jayanan Vincent. He later worked as an assistant on Anubandham, before establishing himself as an independent cinematographer.
Career
Venugopal Madathil made his mark through his cinematography in numerous Malayalam films. Some of his notable works include Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum, Joker (2000), Pallavur Devanarayanan, and Meghamalhar.
His career has included collaborations with several leading directors and productions spanning different genres. His experience behind the camera has made him an established cinematographer in the Malayalam film industry.
In 2021, Venugopal served as a jury member for the 52nd Kerala State Film Awards, further recognizing his standing within the Malayalam film community.
