Biography

Vi Anand, born on February 20, 1979, in Erode, Tamil Nadu, is an Indian film director and screenwriter renowned for his contributions to Telugu cinema, particularly in the science fiction genre.

Early Life and Education

Anand pursued his higher education at Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, where he earned a degree in architecture. Before venturing into the film industry, he worked as an architect.

Career Beginnings

Anand's foray into the film industry began in 2006 when he served as an assistant director to A.R. Murugadoss on the film "Stalin." Before this, he gained experience working under Prathap Pothan for three and a half years as an advertising assistant.

Directorial Debut and Subsequent Works

In 2014, Anand made his directorial debut with the Telugu film "Hrudayam Ekkadunnadi." The same year, he ventured into Tamil cinema with the science fiction drama "Appuchi Gramam." His work on "Tiger" (2015), an action film starring Sundeep Kishan, was well-received by critics, particularly for its screenplay.

Anand's 2016 supernatural romantic thriller "Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada," featuring Nikhil Siddharth, Hebah Patel, Nandita Swetha, and Avika Gor, garnered positive reviews and became a blockbuster hit. He continued to explore science fiction themes with "Okka Kshanam" (2017), starring Allu Sirish, Seerat Kapoor, and Surbhi, which delved into the concept of parallel lives.

In 2020, Anand directed "Disco Raja," a science fiction film starring Ravi Teja. Despite mixed reviews, the film did not perform well at the box office. His latest directorial venture, "Ooru Peru Bhairavakona," was released in 2024.
