Vik Sharma
Biography
Vik Sharma is an English film and television composer and musician known for creating music for comedy, documentary, and entertainment productions. He is particularly recognized for his work on An Idiot Abroad, Hoff the Record, Hello Ladies, Fighting with My Family, and Clarkson's Farm.
Sharma began his musical career as a guitarist and bassist and was a member of the Asian Underground group Joi, which released music through Peter Gabriel's Real World Records. He later moved into film and television composition, developing a distinctive style that blends rock, electronic, ambient, and experimental elements.
From 2010, Sharma composed the music for An Idiot Abroad, the travel-comedy series featuring Karl Pilkington, Ricky Gervais, and Stephen Merchant. He subsequently collaborated with Merchant on Hello Ladies and its television movie, as well as the comedy series Hoff the Record.
In 2019, Sharma composed the original score for Stephen Merchant's feature film Fighting with My Family, starring Florence Pugh and Dwayne Johnson. He worked with Graham Coxon of Blur and Jason Cooper of The Cure on the film's music, creating a guitar-driven rock sound that complemented its wrestling and family themes.
Sharma later became the series composer for Clarkson's Farm, providing its title music and additional musical work. His other credits include The Undateables, The Dog House, Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father, The Moaning of Life, and Child Genius.
Alongside screen composition, Sharma has also released ambient music. In 2021, he released Listen Without Listening, an album combining binaural recordings of natural environments with ambient compositions.
