Vince Gilligan (born February 10, 1967) is an acclaimed American writer, producer, and director, best known as the creative force behind the groundbreaking television series Breaking Bad (2008–2013) and its critically lauded spin-off prequel, Better Call Saul (2015–2022).
Early Life and Career Beginnings: Born in Richmond, Virginia, Gilligan's passion for filmmaking began early. He studied film production at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Before achieving mainstream success, Gilligan gained valuable experience in television, most notably as a writer and producer for the iconic science fiction series The X-Files (1993–2002). He also co-created its spin-off, The Lone Gunmen (2001).
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul: Gilligan's career reached a new zenith with Breaking Bad, a series he created with the premise of transforming the protagonist from a hero into a villain.
