His work is noted for its emotional depth, refined use of light, and strong collaboration with directors.

Biography

Originally from Spain, Vincent De Paula relocated to London, where his career as a cinematographer took shape. Immersed in a dynamic creative environment, he quickly built an extensive body of work, shooting hundreds of commercials, music videos, and short films before transitioning into feature films and episodic television. His early artistic influences stem from classical painting, particularly the mastery of light and composition found in artists such as Vermeer, Caravaggio, and the Impressionists, which continue to shape his visual sensibility.

Career

During his time in the United Kingdom, De Paula photographed music videos for acclaimed artists including Amy Winehouse, Brian Eno, and Lacuna Coil, along with high-profile commercial campaigns for major international brands. He also served as cinematographer on the British cult feature Don’t Let Him In, which received recognition in professional cinematography publications, as well as the Danish feature film The Will.

After moving full-time to North America, De Paula established himself as a sought-after cinematographer in both Los Angeles and Vancouver. His feature film credits include the romantic drama 2 Hearts, released theatrically by a major studio, and the Netflix thriller The Inheritance. His work on 2 Hearts earned prominent industry attention and magazine cover features.

In television, De Paula has been equally prolific. He served as cinematographer on series such as Maid, Firefly Lane, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, and The Flash, bringing a cinematic approach to episodic storytelling. His work on Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist earned him a Leo Award for Best Cinematography in a Dramatic Television Series, along with additional nominations for other projects. His broader television credits also include Reboot, Project MC2, Second Chance, The Man in the High Castle, Upload, and The Good Doctor.
