Violet McGraw

Biography

Violet McGraw, born on April 22, 2011, is an American child actress who has rapidly gained recognition for her compelling performances in both critically acclaimed and commercially successful films and television series. Despite her young age, McGraw has already amassed an impressive and diverse filmography, establishing herself as a talent to watch.

Early Life and Career Beginnings:

Violet is the youngest of four children, all of whom are actors, including her older siblings Jack, Aidan, and Madeleine McGraw. Her exposure to the industry came at a very early age. She began with print modeling and commercials, but initially wasn't keen on auditions. However, after visiting her sister Madeleine on the set of the show Outcast, Violet "fell in love with the whole process" of filmmaking. This experience prompted her to ask her mother if she could start auditioning again.

Her acting debut came with a recurring role in the 2016 television series Love as Nina, followed by her first feature film appearance in Steven Spielberg's Ready Player One (2018) as an uncredited "Shopping Cart Kid."

Breakthrough and Notable Works:

McGraw's first major role that garnered widespread attention was as Young Nell Crain in Mike Flanagan's critically acclaimed Netflix series The Haunting of Hill House (2018). Her poignant portrayal of the younger version of the character earned her an OFTA Television Award nomination for Best Ensemble.

She continued to impress with roles in several high-profile projects, including:

  • Doctor Sleep (2019): As Violet in the Stephen King adaptation.
  • Our Friend (2019): Playing Evie Teague alongside a star-studded cast.
  • Black Widow (2021): Portraying a young Yelena Belova in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film, a role she is set to reprise in Thunderbolts (2025).
  • Separation (2021): As Jenny Vahn.
  •

However, it was her starring role as Cady in the sci-fi horror film M3GAN (2022) that brought her significant international fame. Her performance as the grieving niece forming a dangerous bond with an AI doll was a highlight of the hit film. She is set to return as Cady in the highly anticipated sequel, M3GAN 2.0, in 2025.

Violet McGraw's ability to tackle both dramatic and genre-specific roles with maturity and conviction makes her one of the most promising young actresses in Hollywood today.
