Biography
Vikraman is a well-known Indian film director and screenwriter who has made a significant mark in the Tamil film industry. Renowned for his clean, family-oriented narratives and emotional storytelling, Vikraman has built a reputation as one of the most consistent filmmakers in Tamil cinema since the early 1990s.
Vikraman began his career as a story and dialogue writer before venturing into direction. He made his directorial debut with Poorani (1988), but it was his film Puthu Vasantham (1990) that brought him widespread recognition. The movie, which revolved around friendship and human values, became a massive hit and established him as a director known for sensitive and socially conscious themes.
Throughout his career, Vikraman has directed several successful films, including Gokulathil Seethai (1996), Poove Unakkaga (1996), Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen (1998), and Vaanathai Pola (2000). His films often highlight family relationships, love, and moral values, earning him appreciation from both audiences and critics. Vaanathai Pola won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, further cementing his place among Tamil cinema’s leading directors.
Apart from his directorial ventures, Vikraman also served as the President of the Tamil Film Directors Association, where he worked to support and promote the welfare of filmmakers.
