Wesley Snipes is an American actor, film producer, and martial artist, widely known for his work in action, thriller, crime, and science-fiction films. He became one of the prominent action stars of the 1990s and is particularly famous for portraying the superhero Blade.

 

 

Early Life

Wesley Trent Snipes was born on July 31, 1962, in Orlando, Florida, USA. He developed an interest in acting at an early age and studied performing arts before pursuing a professional career. He also trained extensively in martial arts, which later became an important part of his film career.

 

 

Career

Snipes began acting in the 1980s, appearing in films and television productions. His breakthrough came with Major League (1989), in which he played baseball player Willie Mays Hayes. He gained further recognition with roles in New Jack City (1991), White Men Can't Jump (1992), Passenger 57 (1992), and Demolition Man (1993).

 

During the 1990s, he became particularly associated with action films while continuing to take on dramatic roles. His performances in Jungle Fever (1991), directed by Spike Lee, and New Jack City demonstrated his range beyond action-oriented roles. He also starred in The Fan (1996), U.S. Marshals (1998), and One Night Stand (1997).

 

 

Blade Franchise

Snipes achieved international fame as Eric Brooks, better known as Blade, in Blade (1998). The film combined superhero, horror, and action elements and became a major success. He reprised the role in Blade II (2002), directed by Guillermo del Toro, and Blade: Trinity (2004).
