Biography

Yashika Aannand (born August 4, 1999) is an Indian actress, model, and television personality known for her work in Tamil cinema.

 

Early Life and Education

Born in New Delhi into a Punjabi Hindu family, Yashika relocated to Chennai during her childhood. She completed her schooling at Sherwood Hall School in Chetpet, Chennai, and pursued higher education at M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women. Initially aspiring to become a pilot or air hostess, she developed an interest in modeling during her school years, which eventually led her to the entertainment industry.

 

Career

Yashika began her career as an Instagram model and appeared in advertisements and video songs. Her acting debut came with a brief role in Kavalai Vendam (2016). She gained recognition for her performance as Shruthi in the crime thriller Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (2016), which was both a critical and commercial success.

 

She went on to appear in films like Paadam (2018), Maniyaar Kudumbam (2018), and the adult comedy Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuththu (2018). In 2019, she starred in the zombie comedy Zombie, alongside Yogi Babu.

 

In 2018, Yashika participated in the second season of the reality TV show Bigg Boss Tamil, hosted by Kamal Haasan. She was evicted on day 98, finishing in fifth place.

 

Her performance in the film Bestie earned her the Best Actress Award at the Las Vegas Independent Film Festival in 2021.

 

Personal Life

On July 24, 2021, Yashika was involved in a serious car accident near Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu, resulting in critical injuries and the unfortunate death of one of her friends. She has since recovered and continues to work in the film industry.
