Yekaterina Valerevna Rednikova (born May 17, 1973, in Moscow) is a distinguished Russian theater and film actress, widely recognized for her dramatic roles in Russian and international productions.
Career Breakthrough and Notable Roles
Rednikova’s career launched in the 1990s, and she quickly gained prominence, becoming one of Russia’s respected leading ladies. Her breakthrough came with the 1997 film The Thief, directed by Pavel Chukhrai.
The Thief (1997): Her performance as Katya, the passionate and tragic central figure, earned her significant critical acclaim and launched her international profile. This film was a major success, receiving an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
Awards: For her starring role in The Thief, Rednikova won the Nika Award for Best Actress in 1998, which is considered the principal national film award in Russia.
