Yoo Seung-ho (born August 17, 1993, in Incheon, South Korea) is a prominent South Korean actor who began his career as a child and has successfully transitioned into leading roles in both film and television.
Early Life and Education
Yoo is the younger of two siblings and has mentioned that his family faced financial difficulties during his upbringing. He graduated from Baekshin High School in February 2012 and chose not to pursue a college degree to focus on his acting career.
Career
Child Actor and Rise to Fame (1999–2009)
Yoo made his entertainment debut in a cellphone commercial in 1999 after his mother sent in a photo of him to an ad agency. He began his acting career in 2000 with the television drama Daddy Fish. His breakthrough came with the 2002 film The Way Home, where he portrayed a bratty city boy who learns to appreciate rural life. Following this success, Yoo appeared in various television series and films, often playing younger versions of main characters. Notable works include Hearty Paws (2006), Unforgettable (2008), and the television dramas Immortal Admiral Yi Sun-sin (2004), The King and I (2007), and The Legend (2007).
Transition to Adult Roles and Continued Success (2010–Present)
After completing his mandatory military service from March 2013 to December 2014, where he served as an instructor training new recruits, Yoo returned to acting with a more mature image.
He starred in the legal thriller Remember (2015), portraying a lawyer with hyperthymesia. Subsequent roles include the historical comedy Seondal: The Man Who Sells the River (2016), the historical melodrama The Emperor: Owner of the Mask (2017), the romantic-comedy I'm Not a Robot (2017), the high school drama My Strange Hero (2018), the mystery thriller Memorist (2020), and the historical drama Moonshine (2021–2022).
In 2023, Yoo took on a new challenge with the streaming crime thriller The Deal, portraying a financially struggling young man who becomes involved in a kidnapping scheme. The series was the only Korean drama invited to the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Personal Life
Yoo Seung-ho is known for his dedication to his craft and his decision to forgo college to focus on acting. He has also been recognized for his service in the military, where he chose to serve as a regular soldier without seeking special treatment.
In March 2025, Yoo signed with 333, a new management company established by Son Ho-jun.
