Yutaka Takenouchi
Biography
Yutaka Takenouchi was born on 2 January 1971 in Chofu, Tokyo, Japan. He is a Japanese actor and former model who began his career after winning a modeling contest. He made his television acting debut in Boku no Shūshoku in 1994 and quickly gained popularity through Japanese television dramas.
Takenouchi became a major television star with roles in Hoshi no Kinka (1995), Long Vacation (1996), Beach Boys (1997), and With Love (1998). His performance in Yankee Bōkō ni Kaeru earned him a Television Drama Academy Award for Best Actor.
He made his feature-film debut with Calmi Cuori Appassionati (Between Calmness and Passion, 2001), which also earned him a Japan Academy Prize nomination for Best Actor. His notable films include Oba: The Last Samurai (2011), The Apology King (2013), Shin Godzilla (2016), Shin Ultraman (2022), and Life of Mariko in Kabukicho (2023).
His television work has continued with productions such as Nagareboshi, BOSS, Idaten, Gibo to Musume no Blues, and Ichikei's Crow. He has received several major acting honors during his career, including the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Actor for Oba: The Last Samurai.
With a career spanning more than three decades, Takenouchi has established himself as one of Japan's prominent actors, working extensively across television, cinema, and commercial productions.
